The Selena Gomez & Benny Blanco wedding captured fans’ attention around the world. While celebrities are often in the public eye, many couples choose to keep their wedding day more private and paparazzi-free. (Honestly, I totally understand that!) They’re also usually very selective about which photos from their wedding get shared publicly.
So when I started looking for inspiration for a Selena Gomez & Benny Blanco wedding painting, there weren’t a ton of photos to work from. I never want to simply recreate one photograph, so I gathered inspiration from a few different images and blended those ideas together to create a unique composition.
I absolutely loved Selena’s ceremony gown and dramatic veil, but for this painting I felt they might overwhelm the scene. Instead, I chose to paint her wearing her reception dress – a chic, vintage-inspired wedding gown by Ralph Lauren that felt elegant and timeless.
From the photos that were shared, the wedding reception appeared to have twinkle lights glowing overhead. I incorporated those into the painting as a sweet nod to their celebration and added touches of gold leaf to bring a little extra sparkle to the moment. To capture the intimate feeling of the evening, I placed just the two of them beneath the lights, creating a romantic scene that focuses on their connection.
